Easter egg appeal!

News at Whitakers | 15/03/2023

Every year, Ashleigh Hirst kindly carries out a huge fundraising event to buy local primary school children in Hull an Easter egg.

This year, she has a new idea and had the following to say:

"Every year I try and participate in as many fundraising activities as I can. In 2020, I decided I would run 5km every day in March, to raise money to buy local primary school children an Easter Egg. I was completely blown aware by everyone's generosity and I was able to deliver nearly 1,400 Easter Eggs to local children.

Last year, I cycled the distance between every primary school in Hull (75 miles). Thanks to everyone's generosity, I was able to deliver over 1,500 Easter Eggs to 7 schools and a youth group.

This year, I have decided to walk to every school and group who have received donations in the past couple of years. I will be walking from Kingswood to Northcott, Sirius North, MacMillan Nursery, Green Way Academy, Frederick Holmes, Newland St Johns, St Nicholas, St Vincents and then on to Ganton School on Anlaby Road. And if that wasn't far enough, I'm walking all the way back home again! All in all, a total of 18.5 miles, which I'm hoping to do in 9-10 hours".

We’re happy to be donating and gathering Easter eggs too!
